wait for it android studio to sync (it took about 2 minutes for me). For anybody having this problem, just go to file > open, navigate to the "android" folder of your flutter project and open it. afaict this is what is generated by image asset studio as part of the adaptive icon. from there, open the res folder and delete everything that looks like foreground.xml. To fix it, i opened the android module (right click on the android folder in the flutter view, then select flutter | open android module in android studio). now you can select an image to create your. right click the app folder and choose new > image asset.
